Juvéderm

The Hyaluronic Acid Filler Family

One of the leading dermal fillers — a family of FDA-approved hyaluronic acid products that restore age-related volume, smooth wrinkles and folds, and refresh your face with natural-looking results.

A Family of Leading Dermal Fillers

Juvéderm is not just one product but a family of dermal fillers — including hyaluronic acid fillers such as Voluma, Vollure and Volbella — all FDA-approved and containing lidocaine. We use these fillers to restore age-related changes in the face, with each product offering specific properties ideal for different enhancements.

Fillers in this category typically last up to two years. Because hyaluronic acid is a sugar that occurs naturally in the body, the filler is absorbed slowly over time — so periodic follow-up treatments maintain the same beneficial effect and appearance.

Juvéderm is primarily a soft-tissue filler injected into the skin to fill facial wrinkles and folds — like the nasolabial folds from the nose to the corners of the mouth — for a smoother, younger appearance. It's softer than most dermal fillers, making it especially good for lip enhancements.

01The Family

The Juvéderm Product Family

Each Juvéderm product is formulated for a specific purpose — from delicate lip work to deep facial volumizing. Dr. Robinson selects the right one for your goals and anatomy.

Juvéderm Ultra

A soft-tissue filler for wrinkles and folds such as the nasolabial folds, the under-eye area and the lips. Softer than most fillers — ideal for lip enhancement.

Wrinkles · Folds · Lips

Juvéderm Voluma®

Injected deep over the facial bones for the upper and mid cheeks or chin. The only FDA-approved HA filler for cheeks and chin — and the longest-lasting. Not for use under the eyes, in the lips, or in nose-to-mouth lines; most patients need two injections one month apart.

Cheeks · Chin · Up to 2 Yrs

Juvéderm Vollure®

Vollure XC / Ultra XC treats mild-to-moderate wrinkles and folds in the lower face — nasolabial folds, marionette lines and oral commissures — holding moisture without over-hydrating the skin.

Lower Face · Marionette Lines

Juvéderm Volbella®

Formulated for the delicate skin of the lips — thinner and more pliable for a smooth, natural effect. Volbella XC augments lips and corrects perioral "lipstick" lines in adults over 21. Lasts up to one year.

Lips · Lipstick Lines · ~1 Yr
02Treatment & Aftercare

Quick Treatments & Simple Aftercare

Treatments generally take about 15 minutes. You may need several sessions to reach the desired result, depending on the area treated and how your body responds. Over time your body absorbs the filler and the skin returns to its previous state — which is why dermal fillers need maintenance and follow-up treatments.

Avoid Strenuous ExerciseSkip strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment.
Avoid Sun ExposureLimit sun before and after — it can increase bruising and swelling.
Avoid AlcoholAvoid alcohol before and after to reduce bruising and swelling.
Disclose Blood ThinnersTell us about aspirin, ibuprofen or blood thinners that can increase bleeding.

Typical Treatment Time

Most Juvéderm treatments take about 15 minutes, with results lasting up to two years depending on the product — Voluma is the longest-lasting of all dermal fillers available.

03Safety

Possible Side Effects & Considerations

As with other hyaluronic acid fillers, side effects are usually mild to moderate and most resolve within 30 days or less. The most common reactions include:

  • Temporary reactions at the treatment site
  • Tenderness and/or swelling
  • Firmness, lumps or bumps
  • Bruising and pain
  • Redness or discoloration
  • Itching
People with a history of severe allergies, or severe allergic reactions to lidocaine or the bacterial proteins used in these fillers, should avoid this treatment. Lidocaine is included in the gel to improve comfort by reducing sensitivity during injection.
