Brow Lift / Forehead Lift Aliso Viejo
Forehead lift (brow lift)
Are you tired of looking tired?
When to consider a forehead lift
If you’re not quite ready to consider a traditional facelift but have grown tired of your upper face showing early signs of aging, a forehead lift, also called a brow lift, may be the right cosmetic surgery procedure for you. A brow lift won’t completely erase the signs of aging, but it will rejuvenate your appearance by smoothing out facial wrinkles and crow’s feet and eliminating the lines on your forehead that can give you a tired or angry expression.
During this procedure Dr. Robinson will elevate the skin on your forehead and around your eyes to surgically reshape your drooping brows, giving you a more youthful appearance. Next to facelifts, forehead lifts are one of the most common procedures requested by patients of Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery in Aliso Viejo.
Dr. Ernest B. Robinson is a board-certified specialist in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery with more than 20 years of experience performing personalized cosmetic and corrective surgery procedures on his patients from Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo in Orange County and beyond. If you’re considering a forehead lift, contact Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery in Aliso Viejo to request a consultation. Communicating your goals for this procedure
During a consultation appointment, you and Dr. Robinson will discuss in detail your motivation for considering a brow lift, your desired surgical outcome and realistic expectations for this procedure. After taking your complete medical history and examining your face, Dr. Robinson will describe how he will perform your surgery and answer any questions you may have. He also may suggest other elective rejuvenation procedures you may consider to further enhance your facial features, such as eyelid surgery or cosmetic wrinkle fillers.
Surgical techniques to achieve your desired outcome
Forehead lifts take one to two hours and are done at Pacific Hills Surgery Center using a combination of local anesthesia and sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Robinson will make incisions at or behind your hairline and in some cases, in the mid-forehead or above your brow, repositioning or removing tissue or muscle to correct the visible brow creases and frown lines between your eyebrows.
After he has tightened your loose skin and removed the excess, Dr. Robinson will close the incisions which, when properly cared for and protected from the sun, should fade completely over time.
Recuperating after your brow lift
You’ll be discharged a few hours after this relatively painless procedure with a prescription for medication to treat mild discomfort and instructions to elevate your head and apply cold compresses to minimize post-surgical swelling and bruising. It’s important to have someone at home to assist in your care for the first few days; if you’re away from home our staff can help you arrange for after care.
It’s normal for your face to feel puffy after surgery, especially within the first 24 to 48 hours. You also may experience slight bruising, swelling and tenderness around your forehead, cheeks and eyes. This initial discomfort is easily controlled with mild pain medication.
Dr. Robinson will remove your bandages in a day or two and take out your stitches in a week to 10 days. He’ll let you know when you’re cleared to return to work and resume your normal social activities, usually a week after your procedure, but you may be advised to refrain from strenuous physical activity for several weeks. Although healing time can vary, most patients fully recover from brow lift surgery after two weeks.
Expected results from this procedure
This procedure will lift your forehead, eyebrows and upper eyelids to restore your natural expression and give you a more youthful looking face. You can expect to see noticeable results in as few as three months as swelling and bruising progressively subside. Because it takes time for tissue to heal completely, it can take up to six months before you see the final appearance of your beautifully rejuvenated forehead.
Those facial wrinkles, crow’s feet and the lines on your forehead can give you a tired or angry expression. Robinson Facial Plastic Surgery can correct those problems with a brow lift. Call (949) 831-5900 or use our convenient Request an Appointment form to learn more.
