Phenol Peel Aliso Viejo

Phenol Peel By Dr. Face

There are many types of peels available for different applications and results. We use phenol peels to resurface the deep layers of your skin and stimulate new collagen growth. We lose natural collagen, which gives our skin its plump, youthful appearance, as we age.

What Is a Phenol Peel?

Phenol peels, which are also called “Hetter peels,” are the deepest, most aggressive type of chemical peel we perform. Phenol peels penetrate the skin deeper than AHA peels or TCA peels. Phenol peels address serious skin problems such as blotchiness, coarse wrinkles and acne scars. Deep chemical peels deliver more dramatic results and only require a single treatment. However, recovery is lengthy and uncomfortable compared to milder chemical peels.

Phenol Peels Solve Serious Skin Problems

Phenol peel is an effective treatment for severely sun-damaged skin, coarse wrinkles, acne scars and precancerous growths. The phenol peel uses carbolic acid, so the procedure is only suitable for treating the full face – with dramatic results that last for years. We advise patients to allow at least one week of at-home recovery after undergoing a deep chemical peel due to swelling and discomfort.

Phenol peels use a chemical solution that removes damaged outer layers of skin to reveal the new, smooth layer of skin beneath. Though a deep chemical peel can improve deep wrinkles, tone, texture and pigmentation of the skin, it won’t solve loose, sagging skin or deep scars. These conditions may require facelift surgery, a brow lift, Thermage®, laser skin tightening or other facial rejuvenation technique.

Is a Phenol Peel Right for You?

Advanced phenol chemical peels are not right for everyone. Either a medium peel or a skin resurfacing option such as microdermabrasion will be better-suited for some patients. Phenol’s bleaching effect means that phenol peels are not suited for dark-skinned patients and patients with freckles because the treatment eliminates freckles. A deep chemical peel cannot be used for “spot treatment” of the face or for improving the appearance of skin on other areas of the body besides the face.

Patients with heart conditions face higher risk from deep chemical phenol peels. Deep chemical peels offer dramatic, long-lasting effects as well as possible side effects that need careful consideration by the physician and patient before proceeding with treatment. If you are considering a phenol peel, discuss your medical history with your physician first.

What a Phenol Peel Feels Like

We perform phenol peels under carefully monitored conditions, usually in our office. We sedate the patient with local anesthesia to ease the discomfort associated with this treatment. The chemical solution we use also contains an anesthetic that numbs the skin. A deep chemical peel usually takes one to two hours. Once you are sedated, we apply the chemical solution to your skin. You may feel a mild tingling or burning sensation as we apply the solution. After an appropriate amount of time, we wash your skin with water and apply a soothing ointment to the treated area. We then give you aftercare instructions, and you return home to begin your recovery.

Dr. Robinson and staff welcome patients from Aliso Viejo, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo and surrounding areas.

Dr. Robinson changed my life...

Dr. Robinson changed my life. He was recommended to me as I had never had any type of work done and he exceeded my expectations. The procedures that Dr. Robinson performed clearly took 15 years off. I am 55 and I constantly get shocked responses from people who think I am 15 years younger. The work was subtle and my experience with the surgery and the healing process was very positive. I cannot thank Dr. Robinson enough for giving me back my youth.
